Pprof made easy at development time for Go
A tiny Go library that wires SIGQUIT to runtime/pprof so you get a one-line way to capture CPU/memory profiles and auto-launch the pprof web UI while developing. It's aimed at Go developers who are tired of the collect-file-then-manually-run-go-tool-pprof dance during local debugging.
The API is genuinely one line (autopprof.Capture in main), and it doesn't reinvent anything — it's a thin, readable wrapper over runtime/pprof and go tool pprof rather than its own profiling engine. Triggering via SIGQUIT means you don't have to pre-instrument code paths or restart the process to start profiling. Zero third-party dependencies per go.mod, so it's low risk to drop in.
No commits since October 2020 — five years dead, so expect friction on modern Go toolchains and no fixes if SIGQUIT handling or pprof internals shifted. Hijacking SIGQUIT is a problem if your app or another library already uses it for graceful shutdown or its own dump-on-quit behavior; there's no documented way to compose with existing signal handlers. Test coverage is just one example_test.go, and the README explicitly punts on production use, which narrows this to a dev-loop convenience you could realistically hand-roll in under an hour.
