Public Slack organizations made easy

slackin is a small Express app that spins up a public landing page plus a realtime badge so a Slack workspace can offer self-serve invites to strangers. It's aimed at open-source projects or communities that want a 'join our Slack' page without building one from scratch.

It's genuinely single-purpose — one small server, one job, and it exposes the underlying Express app so you can mount your own routes on top. It ships two presentation modes for the same data: a live socket.io iframe badge for a website and a static SVG badge for places like GitHub READMEs that can't run JS. reCAPTCHA is wired in by default so the invite endpoint isn't a trivial spam target.

Last push is October 2023 and it depends on Slack's legacy invite/token endpoints, which Slack has been steadily deprecating — there's a real chance this no longer works against a current workspace without patching it yourself. It's single-workspace/single-token by design, so anyone wanting multiple orgs is forking, not configuring. Deployment docs are frozen in time (Bluemix toolchain files, an old-style Azure ARM template, a Dockerfile nobody's touched in years), which signals nobody's validated this against current Node or current Slack APIs recently.
