⚛️ A web tool to support React Native developers in upgrading their apps.
A React web app that renders file-by-file diffs between two React Native CLI-generated app skeletons, so you can see exactly what to change when upgrading. It's aimed at any RN developer doing a manual upgrade, not using Expo or an automated upgrade tool.
Diffs come from rn-diff-purge, actual generated project output per release rather than hand-written changelogs, so they reflect real template changes including binary/config files. Per-file 'done' tracking and inline comments make it usable as a working checklist during a real upgrade, not just a static viewer. Decent test coverage including e2e image-snapshot tests on the Home flow, plus CI via CircleCI and Renovate for dependency upkeep.
Version support is a hardcoded file per release (src/releases/react-native/0.57.tsx through 0.77.tsx) with gaps in between, meaning every new RN version needs a manual PR here before the tool is useful for it — it lags the actual release cadence. It's entirely dependent on rn-diff-purge staying maintained; if that upstream generator stops, this tool has no diffs to show. No handling for projects that deviate from the vanilla CLI template (ejected, custom native code, monorepos), which is most real-world RN apps past a certain size.
