A set of APIs to manipulate graphics paths on Android.

Pathway is a small Android library (JNI-backed) that extends the stock graphics Path API with operations it never had: extracting vector contours from bitmaps, splitting a multi-contour path into separate Path objects, converting a Path to SVG, and iterating over path segments without the framework's own iteration gaps. It's for Android devs doing icon/vector work or custom rendering who are stuck pre-API 34 (or just want a nicer iteration API than the platform's).

The performance-sensitive bits (path iteration, bitmap-to-contour extraction) are implemented in C++ via JNI rather than pure Kotlin, and it offers an explicit allocation-free iterator variant alongside the easy for-loop one. Conic curve handling is a real pain point on Android and the library exposes both automatic quadratic conversion with tunable tolerance and the option to preserve conics as-is. It's published to Maven Central with a CI badge, so it's a one-line Gradle dependency, not a copy-paste snippet.

Single maintainer, 228 stars and 4 forks after years — if romainguy moves on, this is unmaintained overnight. The README itself now tells you to prefer androidx's graphics-path library for iteration and notes Android 14 added getPathIterator() natively, so the library's core value prop (path iteration) is being absorbed by the platform it patches. No Compose integration or sample app is mentioned, it's View-system Path only, and there's no indication of test coverage beyond the existence of an androidTest folder.
