Matplotlib 3.1 cheat sheet.

A set of matplotlib reference cheatsheets and handouts, originally built for matplotlib 3.1. The README itself says this repo is superseded — sources moved to matplotlib/cheatsheets and the same author's scientific-visualization-book. Useful mainly as a quick visual reference for matplotlib's API surface (colormaps, markers, scales, tick locators) when you don't want to grep docs.

The PNGs are genuinely well-designed — dense, accurate visual references for things like colormap families and tick formatters that are otherwise annoying to look up. The reference-*.py scripts are a nice bonus: each cheatsheet section is backed by a small, runnable script that generates the figure, so you can see exactly how each visual was produced instead of trusting a static image.

This repo is explicitly deprecated by its own README in favor of matplotlib/cheatsheets — anyone finding this one via search is on the wrong page. It's frozen on matplotlib 3.1 syntax with no updates since 2020, so some API details (parameter names, defaults) have drifted in current matplotlib. There's no packaging, no way to pip install or embed these as an actual reference tool — it's PNGs and standalone scripts, not a library or docs site.
