// the take

App Framework was a Vue 2 + Framework7 wrapper around Cordova that bundled a full project pipeline (scaffolding, Firebase, build, deploy) so one HTML/CSS/JS codebase could ship as an iOS app, Android app, and web app. It was aimed at solo devs or small teams who wanted a batteries-included Cordova setup around 2018-2019. The README itself tells you not to use it anymore and points to the Framework7 CLI instead.

The deploy tooling is genuinely thorough for its era: automatic icon/splash generation from a single source image, Xcode and Android Studio project builds via Cordova, and scripted pushes to FTP, Firebase Hosting, the App Store, and Play Store. State restoration (navigation history, tabs, scroll position, form inputs, modals) and a global persistent data object solve real plumbing problems that a bare Framework7/Vue setup leaves to you. The Firebase integration switches database/storage rules automatically between dev and prod projects, which is a small but useful detail most hobby setups skip.

Last commit is from May 2020 and the README opens with the author saying development has ended - this is an archived project, not something to build on today. It's built on Cordova, which has itself lost ground to Capacitor, so adopting this now means inheriting a dying wrapper around an aging runtime. The vendor folder checks in framework7 and compiled CSS/JS with content-hash filenames directly into git instead of pulling them through npm, so bumping any dependency means manually diffing vendored files. There's no test directory anywhere in the tree, and it's locked to Vue 2 single-file components with no migration path to Vue 3.

We read the README, the directory tree and a key source file in October 2026. Nobody pays to be listed. How we judge →
