play animations on a LPD8806 or WS2812B LED stripe

Firmware and animation code for driving an LPD8806 or WS2812B LED strip from an STM32 board, with a desktop simulator in sim/ for trying effects without hardware. It is aimed at people building their own LED display who want to write a new pattern as one C file.

- Each animation is a single file in animations/ and the firmware is kept separate from them, so adding a pattern does not mean touching the driver code.

- The sim/ directory suggests the animation code can be built for a desktop, so effects can be iterated without reflashing the board each time. The tree alone does not confirm the two builds share one animation API.

- The helpers are small and purpose-specific: hsv2rgb.c for colour conversion and math_emb.c for maths without a full libm, which is the right instinct on a microcontroller.

- usb_serial.c adds a USB CDC serial layer, which suggests a host can send data to the board over a virtual COM port. The protocol is not visible in the listing.

- The full ST Standard Peripheral Library is vendored for both F2 and F4, including CAN, CRYP, DCMI, SDIO and USB OTG host code that nothing here appears to use. That buries the project's own code under hundreds of files and pins it to a library ST has since deprecated.

- Many animations are near-duplicates: plasma, plasma2, plasma_bigsin and plasma_red; sector, sector2 and sector3; red_blue and red_blue2; bounce and bounce_altCol. Parameterised versions would be easier to maintain than copy-paste variants.

- The last push was May 2015 and the repo has two stars. Nothing in the listing shows the LPD8806 and WS2812B paths tested against current toolchains or hardware, and there is no README to explain how to build, flash or wire the strip.
