Curated list of tools and resources for Platform Engineering

An awesome-list for platform engineering — links to IDPs, Kubernetes tooling, observability stacks, auth systems, and related reading. Aimed at platform teams standing up internal developer platforms or DevOps engineers trying to make sense of the space.

The categorization is practical and reflects how teams actually think about the problem domain (portals, IDP tooling, feature flags, service mesh, etc.). Coverage includes both established CNCF projects and newer entrants, so it's not just Backstage and Kubernetes. The companion MkDocs-generated site and CI pipeline for linting and publishing are a cut above most awesome-lists that are just a flat README. Recent commits indicate active maintenance as of mid-2026.

Several entries are paid SaaS products with no open-source alternative listed alongside them (LaunchDarkly, Swarmia, Bunnyshell), which muddies the line between 'tool reference' and 'vendor directory'. The Frontend section is out of place — Storybook and Radix UI are not platform engineering concerns and feel like they wandered in from a different list. Some entries lack any description, leaving you with just a link and a name to judge by. At 500 stars and 85 forks it's not a dominant resource in the space; Platformengineering.org's own tooling list is linked in the Miscellaneous section and arguably covers more ground.
