Game Preservation Project
This isn't a code project — it's a README that links out to disk images for ~164 old DOS and Windows/Flash games, distributed via Baidu Pan, 115, Tianyi Cloud, Google Drive, and BitTorrent magnets. It's aimed at Chinese-speaking retro-gaming nostalgics hunting for abandonware, not at developers looking for a tool or library.
The curation is real work: 64 DOS games hand-picked out of the usual 1800-game dump, each with a screenshot and metadata (publisher, genre, blurb) instead of a bare file list. Multiple redundant mirrors plus MD5 checksums give some assurance the ISOs aren't tampered with. The 7k-star count shows the underlying problem — finding a clean, playable copy of a specific dead DOS title — is one a lot of people actually have.
There is no code to evaluate, build, or contribute to; the repo is a GitHub-hosted pointer to a Baidu Pan folder. The legal footing is shaky — these are complete commercial game images with no stated rights clearance, and the instructions to manually reassemble download URLs to dodge 'robot scanning' make clear the author knows exactly what this looks like. Everything is Chinese-only with no translation, so it's inaccessible to most of GitHub's audience. The actual content lives on third-party drives (Baidu/115/189) that are routinely taken down or expire, so the repo's long-term value depends entirely on infrastructure it doesn't control — and with the last push a year ago, nobody seems to be maintaining those links.
