dotfiles for the developer happiness: macos, zsh, brew, vscode, python, minimalism
A personal macOS dotfiles repo built on dotbot for symlink management, covering brew, zsh/oh-my-zsh, VS Code, and a hardened Firefox/Zen config. It's for developers who want a well-organized reference to steal pieces from, not a cross-platform framework to adopt wholesale.
Uses dotbot instead of a hand-rolled install script, so the symlinking/backup logic is a maintained dependency rather than reinvented bash. The steps/*.yml split (terminal, vscode, dependencies, streamdeck) lets you install only what you want instead of an all-or-nothing run. fzf integration goes beyond an alias — custom completions for zoxide/make/killall, fzf-tab for cmd completion, and a dedicated fzf-simple-git tool for repo browsing. Brewfile captures the full machine state including App Store apps via mas, so a fresh install is actually reproducible, not just 'brew bundle' and pray.
macOS and zsh only — nothing here ports to Linux or bash, so it's reference material, not something you clone and adapt in an afternoon. No CI beyond dependabot; a bad change to install or the zshrc only gets caught when someone actually runs it on a fresh machine. Pulls dotbot and dotbot-brewfile in as submodules, which is one more thing to keep in sync if you fork this rather than just reading it. Most of the 'why' lives in the author's own blog posts and screen recordings rather than inline comments, so understanding the reasoning behind a given config choice means leaving the repo.
