Realtime application framework (client)
This is the standalone Socket.IO client, historically used for realtime bidirectional event-based communication over WebSocket with HTTP long-polling fallback. It's now an empty shell: the actual code and history were folded into the main socketio/socket.io monorepo, so this repo exists only to point you elsewhere.
The redirect is unambiguous — a one-line README with a direct link, no stale docs or outdated install instructions left around to confuse people. Keeping the old repo path alive (rather than deleting it) preserves existing stars, issue links, and search results instead of turning them into 404s.
There is no code here at all — npm installs still point to the `socket.io-client` package name, but this GitHub repo itself is dead weight with nothing to evaluate. Last push was mid-2024 just for the merge notice, so anyone landing here via an old blog post or Stack Overflow link gets no indication of how old that link is. If you star or watch this repo for updates, you'll never see anything — all real activity now happens in the monorepo.
