An automated price tracker that uses bright data, playwright, react and flask.

A price-tracking demo built by YouTuber Tech With Tim, pairing a React UI and Flask API with a Playwright scraper that watches Amazon.ca prices through Bright Data's paid Scraping Browser. It's aimed at developers who want a reference architecture for scrape-store-schedule-display, not people who need Amazon price tracking today.

Shows the full stack end to end - React frontend, Flask backend, Playwright scraper, and a scheduler script - which is genuinely useful as a template for wiring those pieces together. Offloading anti-bot handling to Bright Data's Scraping Browser keeps the scraper code itself short and readable instead of fighting CAPTCHAs and proxy rotation by hand. Windows Task Scheduler automation via run.bat + scheduler/main.py is a pragmatic way to poll on an interval without building a real job queue.

Hard dependency on Bright Data - a paid service - means the scraper does nothing out of the box; there's no free or self-hosted fallback for anyone who just wants to try it. Despite the README claiming it 'could be configured to scrape multiple sources,' only amazon.py exists - that's aspirational, not implemented. No tests anywhere in the tree and no CI. Last pushed October 2024 with the README padded out with unrelated bootcamp advertising copy, which is a pretty clear signal this is a tutorial companion piece rather than a maintained tool.
