💥 A sophisticated GraphQL with Apollo, Express and PostgreSQL boilerplate project.
A reference implementation pairing Express + Apollo Server + Sequelize/PostgreSQL on the backend with a companion React/Apollo Client frontend, built to accompany a Robin Wieruch tutorial on GraphQL. It's aimed at developers learning how a fullstack Apollo setup fits together — auth, pagination, DataLoader — rather than at anyone looking for a production starter.
The resolver/schema/model/loader split is a clean, idiomatic layout for an Apollo Server project and is easy to map onto a real app. It demonstrates cursor-based pagination and Facebook's DataLoader for batching, which is the actual hard part of GraphQL+SQL that most boilerplates skip. It also wires up both session-based and role-based authorization at the resolver and route level, plus an E2E test setup for a GraphQL API, which is more test coverage than most tutorial repos bother with.
Last pushed in June 2020 — the Travis CI and Greenkeeper badges are pointing at services that no longer run free OSS builds or dependency checks, so neither is actually doing anything. JWT is stored in localStorage with no httpOnly cookie option, which is a standard XSS-exfiltration vector and not something to copy into a real app. The dependency set (apollo-server v2, create-react-app) is five-plus years stale, and create-react-app itself has since been deprecated by its own maintainers, so getting this running on a current Node version will likely take real work. It's explicitly a teaching companion to a specific article, not a maintained project, so there's no one to send a PR to if something breaks.
