// the take

The default CSS/JS framework everyone has used at some point, now in active development for a v6 release that adds new components like datepicker, combobox, drawer, and OTP input. Good fit for teams that want a batteries-included UI toolkit without committing to a JS framework.

Huge component surface tested with real unit/visual/integration test suites, not just docs examples. Ships TypeScript declarations, source maps, and both bundled and modular JS builds. The new v6 line is moving to logical properties for RTL support out of the box instead of bolting it on. Build tooling (rolldown, bundlewatch, CodeQL, cspell) shows real CI discipline for a project this size.

v6 is alpha and the README itself tells you to go to a different branch if you want the stable v5 docs, so landing on main is confusing for newcomers. The compiled CSS/JS is still large even minified, and pulling in Floating UI plus Vanilla Calendar Pro in the bundle adds weight most projects don't need. Heavy reliance on Bootstrap's own class/utility conventions means it fights with Tailwind-style or component-scoped CSS approaches if you're mixing stacks. Customization still means Sass variable overrides, which is a different mental model from modern CSS custom properties.

We read the README, the directory tree and a key source file in October 2026. Nobody pays to be listed. How we judge →
