// the take

A grab-bag sample app covering most of the WatchKit API surface — tables, complications, HealthKit heart rate, motion sensors, connectivity, media playback, haptics — each as a runnable screen rather than a snippet. Useful for someone building a classic WatchKit-storyboard watchOS app who wants one place to see how a given API actually behaves instead of piecing it together from Apple's docs.

Breadth is real: 33 complication templates, accelerometer/device-motion/pedometer, HealthKit heart rate, MapKit, and WKInterfaceMovePlayer/recorder are all wired up and runnable, not just described. It covers sensor and motion APIs that are thin on official examples. Being a single working project rather than scattered gists means you can diff two features against each other (e.g. connectivity vs net request) in the same codebase and target.

It's built entirely on WatchKit storyboards, not SwiftUI, which has been Apple's actual watchOS UI framework since watchOS 6/7 — none of this maps directly onto a modern watchOS app's architecture. No commits since December 2022, so nothing here reflects watchOS 9–11: no Double Tap, no Smart Stack, no WidgetKit-based complications. Minimum targets are watchOS 5 / iOS 10 / Xcode 10, which means getting it to even build on a current Xcode toolchain will take nontrivial project surgery before you can use any of it as a reference.
