High-performance React Native Graphics using Skia

React Native Skia exposes the Skia 2D graphics engine to React Native, so you can draw paths, text, shaders, and image filters from JavaScript and JSX. It is aimed at app developers who need custom visuals, animation-heavy UI, or charts that the built-in view system handles poorly. Version 3 moved to Skia's Graphite backend, and v2 is still maintained on its own branch.

- The version table states exactly what v3 drops compared with v2, including platforms, npm package names, and which branch and docs site each version uses. That is the right way to ship a major rewrite of a native library.

- Animation integrates with Reanimated shared values, so animated props can change without a React re-render on every frame. The docs site includes runnable Snack examples, which makes it easy to check behavior before writing app code.

- The WebGPU interop is a concrete feature: with react-native-webgpu installed, Skia and WebGPU share a GPU device and exchange textures without a copy. It only matters if you already run WebGPU, but the capability is real.

- Two major versions are live at once. v2 (Ganesh) and v3 (Graphite) have separate branches, separate npm packages, and different platform lists, so anyone on @shopify/react-native-skia has a migration to plan before upgrading.

- v3 drops tvOS, Android TV, and Mac Catalyst and requires Android API 26 or higher. Teams with older Android devices or TV targets have to stay on v2, and that limit is a real constraint rather than a footnote.

- The README says nothing about binary size, build times, or the cost of shipping a native Skia build. Measure those in your own app before committing, and expect the rougher edges of a newer GPU backend to show up in your app before they are fixed upstream.
