Webcrumbs was a platform for AI-generated frontend components packaged as microfrontends embeddable anywhere — HTML, React, Shopify, WordPress, etc. The platform itself is shutting down October 22, 2025; what remains is the microfrontend packaging runtime, available as-is with no support.
The embed-anywhere approach is genuinely useful — one script tag drops a packaged component into any host environment regardless of stack. The integration docs cover a wide surface (Framer, Wix, Webflow, Shopify) which shows the packaging layer was at least somewhat decoupled from the host. AGPL-3.0 licensing means the runtime code stays public.
The project is dead. The company is winding down, there is no maintenance, and the primary product (the AI platform) disappears October 22, 2025 — adopting this for anything production is a bad bet. The repo's primary language is listed as Roff, which is a groff document format; the actual source in src/ is a handful of versioned JavaScript blobs with no build tooling, tests, or package.json visible. There is no community left to absorb contributions despite the 'community-driven' framing.
