🚀 Show a splash screen during app startup. Hide it when you are ready.

react-native-bootsplash shows a native splash screen on iOS and Android during app startup and gives you a JS API to hide it (with an optional fade) once your app is ready. It targets any React Native or Expo app that needs a real native splash instead of a JS-rendered placeholder, with a bundled CLI to generate the platform assets from a single logo file.

The CLI generates the Android Drawable XML, iOS Storyboard, and all pixel-density assets from one PNG/SVG, which removes the usual manual Xcode/Android Studio asset fiddling. It ships separate native module implementations for old and new architecture, and the useHideAnimation hook exposes container/logo/brand props so you can drive a custom exit animation with Animated or Reanimated instead of a fixed built-in transition. The project explicitly pins its support window to RN's own policy (latest + two previous minors), so you know upfront whether it covers your RN version.

Dark mode assets and the secondary brand logo are locked behind a paid license key sold via Gumroad — the free CLI only generates a single light-mode logo, which is a real limitation if you need dark mode support. Bare RN setup still requires hand-editing AppDelegate.swift and MainActivity.kt to call the native init methods, so a RN template change on a major upgrade can silently break the splash without the library telling you. There's no visual regression testing on the generated Storyboard/Drawable output in the repo, so a bad template edit would only surface when someone's build looks wrong. It's maintained by a single author who states in the README it's 'provided as is' in their free time, so there's no SLA even though sponsorship-based premium support exists.
