// the take
A dropdown mention component (the @username / #issue style autocomplete) that attaches to a plain textarea or input in Vue. Built by Guillaume Chau (Akryum), it's aimed at anyone building a comment box or chat input who needs GitHub/Slack-style mention suggestions without pulling in a full rich-text editor.
Supports multiple trigger keys simultaneously (e.g. '@' and '#' with different item lists), with per-key slot overrides for custom rendering of each suggestion type. Handles async item loading via the @open event instead of forcing a static list. Positioning is delegated to floating-vue rather than hand-rolled, so it inherits that library's handling of viewport collisions and scroll. Covers both Vue 2 and Vue 3 as separate installable versions, plus a contenteditable mode alongside textarea/input.
Last pushed December 2022 — no commits for roughly four years, so compatibility with newer Vue 3 releases or floating-vue updates is untested by the maintainer. The Vue 2 install path is fragile: it requires pinning the exact version 1.0.0-floating-vue1, because the normal floating-vue@vue2 range silently resolves to an incompatible build. It only wraps native textarea/input/contenteditable elements, so it won't plug into ProseMirror- or Slate-based rich text editors, which is where a lot of modern mention UIs actually live. Single-maintainer project with no visible co-maintainers, so bus-factor risk is real if a breaking Vue change needs a fix.
