Home Assistant integration for Haier hOn: support for Haier/Candy/Hoover home appliances like washing machines and air conditioners in 28 languages.
A Home Assistant custom component that exposes Haier hOn-controlled appliances (washers, dryers, fridges, ACs, ovens, dishwashers, and more) as HA entities, built on top of the author's own pyhOn client library. It's for anyone with Haier/Candy/Hoover smart appliances who wants local automation instead of being stuck in the hOn app.
Coverage is genuinely wide — 11 appliance categories, 134 confirmed models, 320 entities, and a proper config_flow for UI-based setup rather than YAML. Splitting the API client (pyhOn) from the HA integration is the right architecture; this repo stays a thin entity mapping layer. There's a built-in diagnostics button that dumps full device state, which is a real accessibility win for the 'add my unsupported model' contribution flow. 28 translated languages for program/state names is unusually thorough for a community integration.
No commits since August 2024 — over a year stale, and given the Haier takedown notice referenced in the README, it's unclear whether this is quietly abandoned or just paused. It only works with the European hOn app; hOn's other regional siblings (Uhome/U+ in China, SmartHQ in North America, Evo in Russia) are explicitly unsupported, so a large slice of Haier's global user base needs a different project entirely. Adding a new attribute means manually pasting a device data dump and hand-writing EntityDescription entries — there's no schema generation or validation, so typos in a `key` field fail silently at runtime. Being entirely dependent on a reverse-engineered private API means any Haier backend change can break it with no fallback, which is exactly what caused the legal dispute in the first place.
