Brackeys/MultiplayerFPS-Tutorial

★ 663 · C# · Unlicense · updated Jul 2022

A video series on making a multiplayer first-person shooter in Unity.

Companion project for Brackeys' YouTube series on building a multiplayer FPS in Unity using uNet (UNET), Unity's old built-in networking stack. It's for beginners who want to follow a video tutorial on client-server movement, shooting, and lobby/login flow in Unity, not for anyone who needs working multiplayer code today.

Ships the full Unity project (scenes, prefabs, animations, models) so you can open it and follow the video step by step instead of building assets from scratch. The scope is a real, complete slice of a multiplayer game — lobby, login, main level, weapon animation — rather than a toy snippet, which makes the video series more concrete.

Built entirely on UNET, which Unity deprecated in 2018 and stripped out of the engine in later LTS versions — none of this networking code runs on a current Unity install without replacing the whole transport/sync layer with Mirror or Netcode for GameObjects. README is a single paragraph plus a YouTube link, with no setup instructions, no Unity version pinned, and no explanation of the project layout. Binary art assets (FBX models, PSD files, .blend) are committed straight into git, so the repo is heavier than it needs to be and diffs on anything are useless. No commits since 2022 and no indication it was ever updated for a supported networking solution, so it's a frozen tutorial artifact rather than something to build on.
