Estimote Fleet Management SDK for iOS

// the take

A fleet-management SDK for Estimote's physical BLE beacons, letting an iOS app push settings and firmware updates to many beacons at once instead of connecting to each individually. It's for teams who've already bought Estimote hardware and need to provision or reconfigure it at scale through Estimote Cloud.

The bulk updater model is genuinely useful: settings are queued in the cloud as 'pending' and propagate the moment any app instance with the SDK gets near the beacon, so you don't need an active connection to every unit to roll out a change. The Convenience API vs Advanced API split is a sensible tradeoff — simple one-off reads/writes for quick scripts, batched operation objects via performOperations: when you need to push many settings to many devices fast. It also unifies several beacon hardware generations (Location, Proximity G/J, Nearables) behind one filter/connect abstraction instead of forcing separate code paths per device revision.

Last commit is from 2020 — no Swift Package Manager support, no async/await, Objective-C-first API that forces Swift consumers to set up a bridging header just to use it. It only works with Estimote's own beacon hardware and requires an Estimote Cloud account plus device ownership to change anything on a 'Deployed & Protected' beacon, so it's a hard vendor lock-in, not a general BLE provisioning tool. The README itself tells you proximity monitoring is deprecated and to use a different SDK instead, meaning a chunk of the shipped API is dead weight you have to know to avoid. With no updates in five years and iOS 10 as the stated minimum, there's no indication this still works cleanly against current iOS Bluetooth permission and background-execution rules.
