Annotation-triggered method call logging for your debug builds.

Hugo is a build-time Gradle plugin and AspectJ weaver that logs method entry, exit, arguments, and execution time when you annotate a method with @DebugLog. Aimed at Android developers who want automatic debug-build tracing without hand-writing Log.d calls everywhere.

The AOP approach means the annotation compiles out of release/non-debug builds entirely — zero runtime cost and nothing to strip manually. Toggling via hugo.enabled or Hugo.setEnabled(boolean) at runtime is a nice touch for noisy logs during a debug session. Simple, single-purpose API surface (one annotation) that's trivial to learn and just as trivial to rip out later.

Last push was January 2022 and it's built on the old Android Gradle plugin/AspectJ tooling from the Groovy-DSL, Jack-less era — expect friction or outright breakage on current AGP/Kotlin DSL/Gradle versions. No Kotlin support story (it's method-call weaving tuned for Java bytecode conventions), which rules it out for most modern Android codebases. Depends on AspectJ weaving baked into the build, so build times and plugin conflicts are a real cost, and there's been no maintenance to address either in years.
