Source code to go along with my tutorial to learn data visualization with the matplotlib library of Python
This is the companion notebook for Keith Galli's YouTube matplotlib tutorial — a single Jupyter notebook plus a couple of CSV files (FIFA player stats, gas prices) used as example datasets. It's for someone following along with the video who wants the exact code and data rather than typing it from scratch.
Pairs directly with a video walkthrough, so the notebook functions as a checkpoint for anyone stuck mid-lesson. Uses real, slightly messy datasets (FIFA data, multi-year gas prices) instead of toy sine-wave examples, which makes the plotting lessons more representative of actual data cleanup work.
It's just one notebook with no accompanying write-up, requirements.txt, or environment pinning — matplotlib/pandas API drift since the 2022 last push means some cells may already render differently or error out. No structure beyond the single file, so there's nothing to reuse outside the tutorial context. 345 stars and 469 forks on a repo that's purely instructional content, not a library, means the fork count is just people saving their own copy to follow along, not real usage signal.
