// the take

Companion repo for LiveOverflow's 'Minecraft:HACKED' YouTube series, which walks through Minecraft's network protocol, server internals, and modding/cheat development. It's episode notes and reference links with a single proxy script attached, not a library or tool anyone would install. Useful for developers who want a guided path into game reverse engineering, protocol analysis, or Java bytecode patching.

Each episode points to the real tooling behind the work instead of reinventing it: Quarry for a Python Minecraft proxy, Fabric/Mixin for Java patching, ASM for bytecode manipulation. The included teleport_proxy.py is a legitimate, minimal example of intercepting and rewriting Minecraft packets, usable as a template for building your own proxy tools. The episode list functions as a solid reading list across wiki.vg, decompilers (jd-gui, fernflower), and mapping tools (intermediary, yarn), saving someone the legwork of finding those themselves.

Dead project: last push was December 2022 and the series stalled at episode 5 with episode 6 still marked TBA, so this is a frozen snapshot, not something being carried forward. Almost no code ships here, just one script; the actual substance lives in YouTube videos, so you can't clone this and get working examples for most episodes. Everything it references, Quarry, PaperMC, FabricMC tooling, has moved on since 2022, so following along today means reconciling version drift against sources that were already a snapshot years ago.
