// the take

A self-hosted trade journal: broker sync, statement import, a FIFO/LIFO/WAVG round-trip engine, analytics, and optional AI reflection, all running on a local SQLite file via Next.js. Aimed at active traders who want broker-grade journaling without handing their trade history to a SaaS.

The domain engine (`packages/core`) is pure and fully unit-tested, with no IO or framework coupling, and is published standalone on npm — unusually disciplined for a project with this much surface area. Broker, market-data, and AI credentials are AES-256-GCM encrypted at rest and the server talks to providers directly, with no LuxAlgo proxy in between. The round-trip engine handles the actually hard parts of position reconstruction: partial fills, scale-ins, flips, and futures multipliers, not just naive buy/sell pairing.

It's explicitly pre-1.0 with schema and APIs still moving, and the maintainers admit parser validation per statement format ranges from synthetic fixtures to cross-checked fields, so import correctness for your specific broker export isn't a given. SQLite-on-disk is the entire architecture, which rules out serverless hosting and leaves no path to multi-user or concurrent access if that's ever needed. Backup is a manual copy of the data directory; the JSON export is read-only since there's no restore importer yet, so recovering from a lost disk means re-importing from raw statements. Broker sync is fully delegated to a separate LuxAlgo-maintained SDK, so support for any given broker is only as good as that external package's upkeep.
