// the take

A plain link index of external style guides and best-practice docs for ~20 languages and frameworks (C, Go, JavaScript, Ruby, Rust, etc.) plus a grab-bag of API, Git, security and writing guides. It's for developers hunting for an authoritative style guide to adopt on a new project, not a tool or library.

Broad coverage in one page instead of ten separate Google searches, and it links to the actual authoritative sources (Google style guides, PEP 8, Airbnb JS, rubocop guides) rather than paraphrasing them. The TOC structure makes it fast to scan and jump to a specific language section.

Zero original content — it's entirely a bag of outbound links, so its value degrades as those targets move or go stale, and there's no link-checking automation in the repo to catch rot. No tooling, linter configs, or editor integration ships with it; you still have to go implement whichever guide you pick yourself. Coverage is uneven and dated in places (CoffeeScript and AngularJS guides sit next to modern entries), and there's no indication of a process for pruning guides for frameworks nobody uses anymore.

We read the README, the directory tree and a key source file in October 2026. Nobody pays to be listed. How we judge →
