OpenDCAI/Paper2Any

Turn paper/text/topic into editable research figures, technical route diagrams, and presentation slides.

Paper2Any is OpenDCAI's set of LangGraph workflows that turn a paper, a block of text, or a topic into editable PPTX slides, scientific figures, draw.io diagrams, posters, and rebuttal drafts. The README now marks this repo as a legacy snapshot that gets no new features, and the active product, Nexus Office, is a hosted service whose code is not included. It fits people who want to self-host the older pipeline or read how a multi-agent document generator is put together.

The outputs are native and editable: slides are real PPTX objects and diagrams are draw.io XML rather than screenshots, which is the part most people actually need. The agent decomposition is readable, with dozens of role agents under dataflow_agent/agentroles/paper2any_agents and prompt templates kept apart in promptstemplates/resources. Model setup is split into a simple mode with one text gateway and one image gateway, each set by URL and key, so you can swap providers without editing workflow code. The Apache-2.0 license covers the code and assets in this repo, which makes it a clean starting point for a fork.

The README says this is a frozen snapshot with no feature or architecture updates, and the news items describe hosted features you will not find here, so anything you adopt starts out behind the product. Setup is heavy: Python 3.11 or 3.12, plus tectonic, Inkscape, LibreOffice, poppler, wkhtmltopdf and ffmpeg installed outside pip, a doclayout_yolo install that needs --no-deps to avoid conflicts, and a SAM3 GPU service before PDF2PPT, Image2PPT or Image2Drawio work at all. The tree keeps an older set of parallel and optimized PDF2PPT variants in workflow/deprecated/ next to a live wf_paper2ppt_parallel_consistent_style.py, so it is not obvious which path is maintained. Configuration also sprawls across two .env files, each with simple and advanced modes, and the frontend bakes its environment in at build time, so every config change means a rebuild.
