// the take

This is the companion code for RameshMF's paid Udemy course on building a JWT-secured blog REST API with Spring Boot. It's a teaching project, not a library or template meant to be adopted standalone — useful for developers learning Spring Security 6, JWT, and layered Spring Boot architecture from scratch.

Good breadth for a learning resource: JWT auth, role-based Spring Security, DTOs, global exception handling, bean validation, and pagination/sorting are all represented in one app instead of scattered across toy examples. The layering (controller/service/service.impl/repository/payload/entity) is a clean, idiomatic Spring Boot structure worth copying as a skeleton. It's been kept current — upgraded to Spring Boot 3.2.1 and jjwt 0.12.3, so it reflects Spring Security 6's actual API instead of deprecated WebSecurityConfigurerAdapter-era code many older tutorials still use.

There's exactly one test file and it just checks the Spring context loads — nothing exercises the JWT flow, the security filter chain, or the service layer, so you can't trust this as a reference for how to test any of it. The curriculum promises Docker and AWS deployment but there's no Dockerfile or docker-compose in the repo, so that part lives only in the paid video content. A raw pdfs.zip sitting in the repo root is a strange thing to commit and ship. Last pushed mid-2024 with a single maintainer and course-support cadence — treat it as a frozen teaching snapshot, not something that'll get security patches if a JWT or Spring Security CVE lands.
