[⚠️ Deprecated] A loosely related set of packages for JavaScript/TypeScript projects at Shopify

Shopify's monorepo of about 67 npm packages and one Ruby gem, built for JavaScript and TypeScript apps on Koa, React, Apollo, and Jest. The README and every package index entry mark it deprecated and unmaintained, pointing people to alternatives or to Shopify's internal quilt-internal repo. It is most useful as a reference for how a large company organised its shared frontend and server utilities.

Each package is small and published on its own, with its own rollup.config.mjs, tsconfig.json, and CHANGELOG. You can take @shopify/predicates or @shopify/css-utilities without pulling in the rest of the repo. The type-level tests are worth noting: admin-graphql-api-utilities has a test-d/ folder, and documentation/testing-exported-typescript-types.md explains the approach. Most libraries only test runtime behaviour. The GraphQL tooling (graphql-typed, graphql-fixtures, graphql-typescript-definitions) goes after real problems: typed DocumentNode wrappers and fixture objects generated from the query documents. The changesets, release, and Node and Ruby CI setup is a usable template for any multi-package TypeScript repo.

Deprecated, and the last push was January 2025. The caution block says nothing will get fixed, so dependency upgrades, Node version drift, and security patches fall to whoever adopts a package. The README itself admits the repo collected unrelated packages with no shared design, so quality varies from package to package and each one needs its own evaluation. Many packages assume Shopify's stack: sewing-kit-koa wraps Shopify's build tool, quilt_rails is a Rails integration tied to Sewing Kit, and the i18n and GraphQL helpers follow internal conventions. Outside that stack, expect to rewrite the integration layer. The small utilities (dates, predicates, useful-types, function-enhancers) overlap with what date-fns and current React libraries already cover, so check the alternative before adding one.
