Convert Figma frames into a Google Slides presentation 🍭
A Chrome extension and a PHP script that turn the frames of a Figma file into slides in a Google Slides presentation, one slide per frame. It is for designers or PMs who keep their deck structure in Figma and are willing to set up Google API credentials instead of rebuilding slides by hand.
- The slide order comes from the Figma frame hierarchy, so the file's layout decides the deck structure instead of a separate list someone maintains by hand.
- The code is small enough to read in one sitting: a few JavaScript files for the extension and a single PHP file for the server version. You can see exactly what gets sent to Figma and Google.
- The two versions split the job sensibly. The extension suits someone clicking a button, and the PHP script can run unattended, which fits regenerating a deck on a schedule.
- Last pushed August 2021. The README doesn't say which Figma API or Google client versions it targets, and nothing has been pushed since to keep up with either, so treat the first run as a test.
- Credentials go straight into the source. The README has you paste a Figma token, a Google API key, and file and presentation IDs into background.js or the PHP file, and it suggests leaving the Google key unrestricted. A fork that gets committed leaks all of it.
- The two versions disagree on slide order: the extension goes top to bottom, the minified version reverses it. The README mentions this in one line, so switching between them quietly produces a backwards deck.
- Nothing in the repo suggests tests, a config file, or a way to target a deck other than editing source. For a tool that rewrites an existing presentation, that is a rough edge.
