Supercharge Notion with custom commands to record, draw, and more ✍️
Slashy is a browser extension for Chrome, Firefox and Edge that adds custom slash commands to Notion, plus two built-in ones: /draw, a Fabric.js canvas that inserts the result into the page, and /record, which captures camera and audio. It is for people who live in Notion and want to script small repeated page edits without leaving the editor.
The repo keeps separate mv2 and mv3 builds side by side, which makes the Manifest V3 changes easy to diff. User scripts run through SvalJs, an interpreter written in JavaScript, which is the practical workaround for MV3 banning eval. The SDK is three methods with documented parameter types (showModal, writeToNotion, addImageBlob), small enough to learn from the README alone. The README says no sign-in is needed, and nothing in the visible tree suggests a backend.
The last push was June 2022. Notion changes its editor DOM often, so anything that touches the page, including the /draw insert path and the sidebar, should be treated as unverified against current Notion until someone loads the extension and tries it. The Firefox /draw path depends on setting dom.events.asyncClipboard.clipboardItem in about:config, which the README presents as a workaround rather than a fix. Script commands run arbitrary JavaScript against the page with no review step, and the README gives no guidance on checking a script before adding it, which matters once people start copying snippets from blog posts. The visible tree has no test directory, so changes can only be checked by loading the extension and clicking through Notion.
