A nicer look at GitHub profiles built with Next.js and the GitHub API

A Next.js app that pulls a GitHub user's data via the API and renders it as a prettier profile page with language and repo charts. It's a weekend-project scale tool for anyone who wants a nicer visual summary of their own (or someone else's) GitHub activity than the stock profile page.

Codebase is small and easy to read in one sitting — components are split cleanly (Charts, Repos, UserInfo) with styled-components keeping styles colocated. Chart.js integration for language breakdown is a nice touch that the default GitHub profile doesn't offer. The concept is scoped tightly and actually finished, not a half-built template.

Dead project — last push was January 2023, deploy instructions reference the old `now` CLI which Vercel renamed and overhauled years ago, so the deployment docs no longer work as written. No visible handling of GitHub API auth or rate limiting in the README or component list, meaning unauthenticated requests will hit the 60/hr GitHub limit fast and the app will just show errors. Depends on `node-gh-polyglot`, a thin wrapper around the GitHub API that's barely maintained itself. Zero tests, so any GitHub API response shape change silently breaks rendering.
