🤖 Godot Engine 4 template to better get started for gamejams with your 2D or 3D game!

A Godot 4 project template for game jams that provides the boring scaffolding (settings menu, save/load, pause menu, i18n, boot splash) so you can start building the actual game on day one. Aimed at solo devs or small teams doing 48-72 hour jams in GDScript, works for either 2D or 3D since it doesn't impose any gameplay structure.

The itch.io GitHub Actions workflow (godot-ci.yml) that builds and deploys to Mac/Windows/Linux/Web on push is the actual reason to use this over a blank project - that's normally a half-day of yak-shaving during a jam. The save system is a clean pattern: anything in the 'Persist' group gets serialized automatically, including nodes spawned at runtime, without per-object boilerplate. It's a real GitHub template repo (not a fork-and-pray setup), so 'Use this template' gives you a clean history.

Zero gameplay code - no movement, no camera, no input handling - which is explicitly a design choice (contributing guide says add-on-worthy stuff shouldn't go in here) but means the 812 stars overstate how much this actually gets you. Autosave only fires when exiting through the pause menu, so a crash or force-quit during a jam (not rare) loses all progress with no warning. Single save slot that silently overwrites on a new game, no slot management or save versioning. i18n is a flat CSV plus manual tr() calls - fine for a jam's two lines of UI text, but there's no pluralization or interpolation support if you need more.
