// the take
A single-page showcase of Google's Polymer 1.0 paper-elements (Material Design web components) from the pre-LitElement era. It's a demo gallery, not a library — useful only as a historical reference for what Polymer-based Material Design looked like circa 2015-2017.
- Clean, minimal demo of how paper-elements compose together (buttons, menus, dialogs, tabs) in one visual gallery
- Shows the old Polymer 'vulcanize' bundling workflow (elements.build.html), which is a decent historical reference if you're maintaining legacy Polymer 1.0 apps
- Small surface area, easy to read end-to-end in a few minutes
- Depends on Polymer 1.0 and paper-elements, both long abandoned by Google in favor of LitElement — none of this reflects current web component practice
- Install step requires bower, which has been deprecated and unsupported for years; fresh installs will likely fail outright
- Relies on HTML Imports, a spec that was dropped from Chrome and never shipped in other browsers, so the page won't even render in a current browser without a polyfill
- No commits since 2021, no tests, no CI — it's frozen as a museum piece, not a working starting point for anything
