// the take
A Telegram bot that downloads files from direct links, torrents, or YouTube and re-uploads them to Telegram, optionally pushing a copy to Google Drive. Built by a single Maldivian developer who open-sourced and rebuilt it from scratch for a YouTube tutorial series after shutting down the original public bot.
Properly async throughout — pyrogram for the MTProto layer, aiohttp/aiofiles for I/O, so it isn't blocking on downloads or uploads. The plugin layout (mega/telegram/plugins) keeps each command's logic isolated and readable. It chains several real integrations cleanly in one pipeline: fetch -> ffprobe for media info -> Telegram upload -> optional Drive export -> optional seedr torrent handling.
Dead since June 2021 — pyrogram, the Telegram Bot API, and especially youtube-dl have all moved on since, and youtube-dl itself is largely superseded by yt-dlp and breaks on many sites now. Config is a plaintext config.ini holding the MongoDB password and Google service-account key reference, with no secrets management story. The whole premise is an open relay for pulling arbitrary links (including torrents via seedr) straight into Telegram, which is exactly the piracy-channel use case the README admits it served — a real legal exposure for anyone running it publicly. No tests, and it's explicitly a single-author teaching project rather than something built for ongoing maintenance.
