// the take

A Telegram bot that sits in front of Aria2, letting you trigger downloads (magnet/torrent/HTTP) and push finished files to OneDrive or Google Drive, aimed at people running a small VPS or NAS who want to manage downloads without a web panel or SSH session. It's built for the single-admin, screenshot-and-tap workflow rather than a team or multi-user setup.

Talks to Aria2 over its websocket JSON-RPC instead of polling, so download notifications are near-instant and reconnect automatically if the connection drops. It can delete and move/copy files on the download host directly from Telegram, which AriaNG and most web panels can't do, and is genuinely useful if you're mounting remote storage with rclone and want to avoid an SSH round-trip. The client/server split uses gRPC so one Telegram bot can front multiple Aria2 servers, and i18n is wired in properly (en/zh-CN/zh-TW) rather than hardcoded strings.

The README's own checklist is the best evidence against it: multi-user and group support in Telegram are unchecked, qBittorrent control is unchecked, size-aware segmented downloading (the stated reason the project exists) is unchecked, and the project explicitly says v1.0 hasn't shipped. No commits since February 2023, so this looks abandoned mid-build rather than finished. The repo vendors its entire Go dependency tree (including a second nested go.mod for the Google Drive tool), which bloats the checkout and makes it harder to trust dependency versions are current. OneDrive upload has no resume-from-break support, so a flaky connection on a large file means starting over.

We read the README, the directory tree and a key source file in October 2026. Nobody pays to be listed. How we judge →
