// the take
Easy Charts is a Godot 4 addon that adds UI-based chart plotting — bar, line, pie, radar, scatter, and area — as Control nodes you can drop into a scene. It's for Godot developers who need in-game or in-editor data visualization (stats screens, debug overlays, dashboards) without building a plotting system from scratch.
All six chart types share a common FunctionPlotter base rather than being six separate implementations, which keeps the plotting logic consistent. It supports realtime/live-updating charts (shown in the line and pie examples), which is the use case that actually matters for in-game telemetry. Theming plugs into Godot's native .tres theme resources instead of a bespoke styling API, and every chart type ships a working example scene plus a multiplot composition example, not just one demo.
The description promises 'every chart possible' but 2D and 3D world-space charts are explicitly marked not implemented — today this is UI Control charts only. Godot 3.x support is pushed off to a separate branch rather than maintained in parallel, so anyone not on Godot 4 is on their own. Nothing in the docs addresses redraw cost for large or high-frequency datasets, which matters because Control-node charts in Godot typically redraw via _draw() and can get expensive fast with realtime data. There's no mention of version pinning or an Asset Library release channel — installation is just cloning the repo, so there's no easy way to lock to a known-stable version.
