A scary 👻 powerful toolbox 🧰 for Home Assistant 🏡
Spook is a Home Assistant custom integration that adds dozens of services for things the UI handles poorly, such as bulk renaming and relabeling entities, cleaning up orphaned registry entries, and managing areas, floors, and labels. It also surfaces repair items for broken entity references in automations and dashboards. It is aimed at people with large, long-lived Home Assistant setups who have outgrown the UI and are comfortable running a third-party integration that the Home Assistant project does not support.
The layout is the strongest part. Each Home Assistant domain gets its own ectoplasms package with its services and repairs side by side, so one feature can be read and changed without touching the rest. Repairs go through Home Assistant's own repairs UI instead of existing only as services, so a broken automation reference shows up where people already look. A tests-ha-dev workflow runs alongside the normal suite, so upstream Home Assistant breakage should surface in CI before it reaches users.
Several services are destructive, including delete_all_orphaned_entities, disable_user, and restart, and they sit in the same catalog as read-only tools. The README's only warning is that the project is provided as-is, so anyone adopting it has to read the per-service docs before running these on a live system. The README is a stub that points to spook.boo, and the badge reads 'project stage SPOOKED', which is honest but makes it hard to tell from outside how well each service is exercised. Because the project reaches into registries and internals without Home Assistant's backing, every release is a possible breakage point, and core_compat.py suggests version-specific shims are already needed.
