Orchestrate multiple coding agents from desktop and mobile
Paseo is a local daemon that lets you drive Claude Code, Codex, Copilot, OpenCode, and Pi through one interface — CLI, desktop app, or phone. It's for developers who already run multiple agent CLIs and want a single control plane instead of juggling terminal tabs, with a TypeScript SDK for building your own tooling on top.
The daemon-plus-clients architecture is the right call: agents run on your machine with your actual dev environment and auth, not in someone else's sandbox, and the same WebSocket API backs the CLI, desktop, and mobile clients so nothing is a second-class citizen. The `@getpaseo/client` SDK is a real API (agent creation, `waitForFinish`, streaming) rather than a wrapper around shelling out. Docker support with a documented base image means you can run it headless on a server without hand-rolling the setup.
It's a one-person project funded by GitHub Sponsors — fine for a side tool, riskier for something you're wiring into a daily workflow with 18k stars of expectation behind it. It doesn't do anything without agent CLIs already installed and authenticated, so it inherits every rough edge of Claude Code, Codex, etc. rather than fixing them. The plugin system explicitly runs third-party TypeScript with access to your daemon machine and connected clients — the README's own warning to 'install only code you trust' is a real supply-chain risk if plugin distribution isn't tightly controlled. Remote access beyond your LAN needs either their E2E relay or you standing up Tailscale/VPN yourself — there's no simple 'just works' remote story.
