GitHub Actions Importer helps you plan and automate the migration of Azure DevOps, Bamboo, Bitbucket, CircleCI, GitLab, Jenkins, and Travis CI pipelines to GitHub Actions.
A GitHub-official tool (shipped as a Docker container plus a `gh` CLI extension) that converts pipeline definitions from Azure DevOps, Bamboo, Bitbucket, CircleCI, GitLab, Jenkins, and Travis CI into GitHub Actions workflows. It's aimed at platform/DevOps engineers running an actual migration off a legacy CI vendor, not at people casually comparing CI systems.
The docs directory is the real product here — hundreds of individual mapping pages for specific tasks, steps, orbs, and plugins (every Azure DevOps built-in task, every CircleCI orb command, Jenkins plugins like `Ssh.md` and `Kubernetes.md`) rather than a generic one-size-fits-all translator. Running it as a Docker image means the conversion environment is pinned and reproducible regardless of what's on the host machine. It ships a dry-run/plan step before writing anything, which matters for a tool whose whole job is rewriting your build pipeline.
Two external dependencies (Docker daemon running, GitHub CLI installed) just to try it is more setup friction than a plain binary or script. Support is routed to GitHub's formal ticket system instead of GitHub issues, which signals community PRs/bug triage aren't the primary path — worth checking the actual issue tracker's responsiveness before relying on it. CI vendors change task/orb syntax often, so a mapping table this large needs continuous upkeep; the README gives no sense of how current the mappings are kept. It also says nothing about how it handles non-trivial pipeline logic (inline scripts, dynamic matrices, custom conditionals) — likely it gets you a first-draft workflow that still needs manual cleanup, not a drop-in replacement.
