Demonstration and Template Projects

The official collection of small, self-contained Godot sample projects, each demonstrating one technique (finite state machines, isometric maps, custom drawing, tilemaps, instancing, etc.) rather than a full game. It's for anyone learning Godot who wants a working reference instead of reading docs in the abstract.

Maintained in lockstep with the engine itself via version-matched branches, so the 4.x demos actually run on 4.x instead of rotting the way most third-party example repos do. Each demo is isolated in its own folder with its own project.godot, so you can cherry-pick one technique without untangling it from a bigger codebase. Most are exported to GitHub Pages, so you can try a technique in the browser before deciding it's worth pulling into your project. Comes from the Godot Foundation itself, so the code reflects how the engine devs actually expect these patterns to be used, not a third party's guess.

Every demo is a toy showing one mechanic in isolation — nothing here shows how these pieces compose into an actual shipped game, so you're still on your own for integration. GDScript only; there's no C# counterpart for any of these, which matters if your project is on the C# side of Godot. Complexity is all over the place with zero signposting — bullet_shower is a few files, finite_state_machine ships a full combat/motion state tree — so you can't tell what you're getting into from the folder name alone. The master branch tracks Godot's unstable dev build, so grabbing the wrong branch against a stable engine install will break demos with no obvious error pointing at the version mismatch.
