Text editor - Notes & ToDo (for Android) - Markdown, todo.txt, plaintext, math, ..
Markor is an offline-first Android text editor for Markdown, todo.txt, Org-mode, Zim wiki, AsciiDoc, CSV and plain text. It's aimed at people who want to manage notes and to-do lists as plain files they can sync and edit anywhere, not at people who want a note-taking app with its own ecosystem.
Genuinely offline and privacy-respecting - no tracking, minimal permissions (storage + internet only for user-referenced URLs), and it leans on sync tools like Syncthing instead of building its own backend. Markdown parsing uses flexmark-java instead of a homegrown parser, which is the right call for correctness. Each format (todo.txt, Zim, Org-mode, AsciiDoc) gets its own module with a dedicated syntax highlighter and action-button set, so the codebase doesn't have one tangled parser trying to do everything. Single APK with no NDK dependency keeps the build and release story simple.
Still pure Java with no sign of a Kotlin migration, which makes it a harder sell for contributors used to modern Android tooling. Org-mode support is admittedly half-done - syntax highlighting and action buttons only, no preview/view mode. The AES256 encryption feature has a rough edge: Markor only remembers the last password and silently fails to decrypt files using an older one, which is an easy way to lose access to your own notes if you're not paying attention. Rendering and export (HTML/PDF) go through an Android WebView, so preview fidelity depends on whatever WebView version the OEM shipped.
