The category taxonomy is genuinely thorough — over 80 sections covering niches most language ecosystems don't even bother indexing (BSON, QUIC, Bittorrent). CI badge and an Oct 2025 push mean the list is still being actively merged into, not abandoned. 13k stars means it's the default first stop, so PRs adding new packages get seen.
Zero quality filtering beyond 'someone submitted it and got a thumbs-up' — scanning the entries, a large chunk link to repos with no commits since 2015-2017 sitting next to actively maintained ones, with no visual distinction between them. No stars, last-commit date, or maintenance status shown inline, so you have to click through every candidate yourself to find out if it's dead. It's a flat list within each category with no ranking or 'start here' guidance, which matters a lot in sections with 50+ entries doing roughly the same thing (see the sprawling Algorithms and Data Structures section).
