Learn Python from DevOps Engineer point of you.
A day-by-day Python course aimed at DevOps/infra engineers, pairing markdown notes with small scripts that build up from basic syntax to boto3, Fabric, and a Flask-based GitHub-to-JIRA webhook. It's for someone who already knows *why* they need Python (automating servers, AWS, tickets) but has never written it.
Each day grounds syntax in an actual ops task instead of toy examples — reading env vars for secrets, looping over log files for errors, a real GitHub-comment-to-JIRA-ticket API in Day 14/15. The folder structure (notes, assignment questions, separate answer files) makes it usable for self-paced study or as a workshop curriculum. High fork count relative to stars suggests people are actually cloning it to work through, not just bookmarking.
No dependency pinning at the repo root — boto3, Flask, and the JIRA client are imported ad hoc across days with no shared requirements.txt, so scripts rot as those APIs change. No tests, no CI, and the code is a pile of standalone snippets rather than anything resembling a package a reader could extend. Last pushed August 2024, so it's been dormant for over a year — any breakage from library updates (Flask 3.x, boto3 signature changes) won't get fixed. Despite the DevOps framing, it never touches Docker, CI/CD pipelines, or IaC — it's really 'Python basics with AWS/API examples,' which is narrower than the title implies.
