A Slightly Liberated Microsoft SQL Server Docker image

A fork of Microsoft's mssql-server Docker image that patches around the hard-coded 2GB RAM check via an LD_PRELOAD shim on sysinfo(). Useful if you want to run SQL Server in a tiny VM or container and are fine relying on swap.

The fix is minimal and surgical — one wrapper.c intercepting a single syscall rather than patching the binary or disabling checks wholesale. The README explains the actual mechanism (sqlservr's self-imposed memory floor, not a real allocation failure) instead of just saying 'it works now'. Trivial to audit: it's a few dozen lines of C plus a Dockerfile.

Dead project — last push was 2021, so it's tracking a SQL Server base image that's five years out of date and almost certainly missing security patches. No indication of what happens under actual memory pressure once SQL Server starts touching tables beyond what physical RAM can hold — lying about available memory doesn't mean the workload will be usable, just that it won't refuse to start. No tests, no CI, and no documented behavior across SQL Server versions, so there's no way to tell if this still works against current images without trying it yourself.
