💰 Billing & Payments knowledge for cloud platforms
A curated awesome-list covering the full billing stack: pricing models, usage metering, accounting theory, fraud, taxes, invoicing, and SaaS metrics. Maintained by a single author (Kevin Deldycke) who clearly has hands-on billing system experience. Aimed at developers who need to build or understand billing infrastructure from scratch.
The double-entry and accounting sections are genuinely good — pulling in Kleppmann's accounting-for-CS post, TigerBeetle, and Formance Ledger alongside theory gives you a path from concept to implementation. The open-source tool annotations (🆓 vs 💸 vs license info) are consistently maintained and save real research time. Coverage of usage-based pricing goes deeper than most lists, including academic papers on Riemann sums and interval algebra that actually matter when you're building a metering engine. The fraud and tax sections include EU-specific VAT law citations, which most billing resources skip entirely.
It's a list of links, not a guide — you still have to read everything yourself to understand how the pieces connect. Some entries are clearly stale (RTB4Free dormant since 2022, multiple archive.ph/wayback links suggesting the originals are dead). The marketplace/online-ads section feels off-topic and thin compared to the billing-core sections. There's a sponsor placement (Credyt) that appears twice in the README including inside the Usage-Based Pricing section, which muddies editorial independence.
