// the take
McFly is a thin wrapper around Facebook's original Flux Dispatcher that adds factory functions for creating Stores (with EventEmitter and a React mixin baked in) and Actions (that auto-dispatch and return promises). It's for a React/Flux codebase from around 2015-2016 that wants less dispatcher boilerplate than hand-rolled Flux.
The API surface is tiny and the source is short enough to read in one sitting, so there's no mystery about what it does. Actions returning promises that resolve once dispatched is a reasonable idea for coordinating UI feedback (loading states, etc.) without extra plumbing. The Store mixin pattern (addChangeListener/removeChangeListener wired automatically) removes a genuinely repetitive piece of manual Flux setup.
Last commit is from March 2017 and it depends on React's old createClass/mixin API, which was removed from React entirely years ago — it will not run against any React version released since React 16 dropped createClass support, so it's dead on arrival for a modern app. It's built on Facebook's original Flux Dispatcher, a pattern the industry (including Facebook) abandoned in favor of Redux and later Context/hooks; there's no migration path forward from this library, only backward into it. No TypeScript types, and the waitFor-based cross-store dependency model inherits Flux's well-known ordering/debugging pain. This is a library to study for historical context on Flux, not one to add to a dependency list.
