Obsidian Web Clipper templates for various sites.

A small collection of JSON templates for Obsidian's Web Clipper browser extension, letting it extract structured notes from specific sites like IMDB, Goodreads, Letterboxd, arxiv and Wikipedia instead of dumping raw page text. Useful for Obsidian users who clip a lot from a fixed set of sites and want consistent frontmatter/fields rather than ad-hoc notes.

Maintained by kepano, who works on Obsidian itself, so the templates track the actual Web Clipper schema closely rather than guessing at an unstable API. Good choice of targets — IMDB, Letterboxd, Goodreads, arxiv are exactly the sites where structured metadata (rating, authors, year) is worth more than plain text. The two schema-based templates (product, recipes) generalize to whole classes of sites instead of one domain each, which is the more durable pattern here.

These are scraping templates tied to each site's current DOM/CSS selectors with no tests or CI to catch breakage when a site redesigns — and sites like IMDB and Google Maps change markup often, so staleness is a when-not-if problem with no signal when it happens. Only about a dozen templates for 1.4k stars means coverage is thin outside the obvious targets; there's no CONTRIBUTING.md or validation script to make adding your own low-friction. It's a pure data repo (JSON configs, no logic), so there's nothing here beyond copy-pasting a template and hoping the selectors still match.
