Themes for the kitty terminal emulator
The official theme collection for the kitty terminal emulator, maintained by kitty's own author. It's a flat directory of ~300 `.conf` files covering every popular color scheme you've heard of plus plenty you haven't. If you use kitty, this is the canonical place to get themes.
Integrated directly into kitty via the built-in `kitten themes` picker — no manual file copying or config editing needed. Maintained by the kitty author himself, so theme format compatibility is never in question. Coverage is genuinely broad: you get Catppuccin, Gruvbox, Nord, Rose Pine, Kanagawa, Everforest, and their variants, plus obscure ones like C64 and DotGov. The `gen-metadata.py` script and `themes.json` index make it straightforward to build tooling on top of the collection.
556 stars for a repo that is essentially just config files — the number says nothing meaningful about quality. There is no preview system in the repo itself; you have to run the kitten to see what anything looks like, which means you can't browse screenshots without installing kitty first. Quality control is minimal — if a theme has bad contrast ratios or broken colors, the README explicitly tells you to go complain to the original author, not here. It's also kitty-only: none of this is portable to Alacritty, WezTerm, or anything else.
